General
What is the ComfortGel Full Mask?

The ComfortGel Full is a comfortable, light and easy-to-use full-face patient interface that is used to deliver Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

How does it work?

The ComfortGel Full has a soft full-face gel cushion and a sure seal technology (SST) flap that gently seals around the nose and mouth of the patient. The cushion seal is supported by a faceplate and an adjustable forehead arm. By using the forehead arm's "Stability Selector," the optimum cushion angle can be obtained, creating a comfortable and stable seal, low headgear strap pressure, and low cushion pressure on the nose and face.

Can ComfortGel Full be used with multiple therapy devices?

Yes, the ComfortGel Full can be used with all Respironics devices, including REMstar CPAP Systems with C-Flex, REMstar Auto System with A-Flex, and BiPAPSystems with Bi-Flex.

What information comes with the ComfortGel Full?

The ComfortGel Full interface includes a pictorial quick fitting guide and a user's manual. Inserted in the manual are a registration card, a replacement reminder card, and a reminder sticker that can help track and manage your mask replacement cycle. Instructions also can be found on this Web site.

Is the ComfortGel Full quiet?

The exhalation port, which is located above the swivel on the front of the faceplate, makes the ComfortGel Full exceptionally quiet. The port is specifically designed to disperse air for a quiet flow of exhalation in a direction away from your bed partner. Our trial participants were impressed by the mask's quietness.

What did patients in your trials say about the ComfortGel Full?

Many patients in our trials would recommend the mask and were most impressed by the ease of use and comfort.

What are the numbers on the bottom of the ComfortGel Full interface?

The numbers are the part number of the ComfortGel Full and the lot number that indicates the date of manufacture (YYMMDD). These numbers are used to track the product and allow for detailed user registration.

Choosing the Correct Cushion Size
How do I correctly choose which ComfortGel Full cushion size to use?

The user's manual included with the ComfortGel Full contains detailed sizing instructions and illustrations. Instructions can also be found on this Web site.

Identify the facial landmarks of the face and use the sizing gauge that is integrated into the product bag to get the right size cushion. Choose the smallest size cushion that is wider than the mouth and long enough to extend beyond the lower lip with the mouth slightly open.

Attaching/Removing the Cushion
How do I attach the cushion to the ComfortGel Full?

To attach the cushion follow these steps:

  • Step A: Place the gel cushion on the ledge of the faceplate.
  • Step B: Place the flap with its integrated retaining ring down over the cushion. Press firmly on the retaining ring of the flap until all sides click into place. Gently tug on the cushion to make sure all of the parts are securely in place.

How do I remove the cushion from the ComfortGel Full?

To remove the cushion, lift up on the tabs on the bottom of the flap's integrated retaining ring. Remove the cushion and flap. Separate the cushion from the flap.

Adjusting the Mask
How do I put on and adjust the ComfortGel Full? How do I correct any leaks?

This Web site provides several handy tools to help you adjust the ComfortGel Full mask and correct leaks. Choose from:

Tubing Management
Can I use standard CPAP tubing with the ComfortGel Full?

Yes, the interface is designed to work with standard 6-foot CPAP tubing. However, for those preferring a lighter, more flexible tubing, Respironics' Performance Tubing is the product of choice.

Can I direct the tubing over my head?

Yes. The swivel elbow located on the front of the interface can rotate to permit the tubing to be directed straight down, to the side or over the head. Furthermore, the 6-foot tubing on the ComfortGel Full interface is flexible enough to allow it to be positioned in whatever manner best fits your sleeping preferences.

Cleaning
How often should I clean the ComfortGel Full?

Hand clean the mask following the instructions below prior to its first use. Thereafter, the interface and tubing must be cleaned daily for best results. The headgear should be cleaned weekly.

How should I clean the ComfortGel Full?

Be sure to thoroughly clean the interface and cushion using a mild liquid dishwashing detergent (avoid using bleach, alcohol, strong household cleaners and products containing conditioners or moisturizers). Rinse thoroughly; pat with a paper towel and air dry completely before use. Inspect all parts for damage or wear; replace if necessary.

The headgear should be cleaned weekly or as needed—either by hand or machine washed in the gentle cycle. Attach the EZPeel Tabs to the headgear straps so they do not latch onto other items in the laundry. Line dry the headgear.
